James Bell is the founder and president of James Bell Associates, Inc., an award-winning firm that designs and conducts evaluations of innovative health and human services programs. His 43 years of experience on more than 100 national projects spans an array of evaluation designs and program areas, including a mixed-method evaluation of the first Medicaid managed care demonstrations; a random assignment evaluation of a promising foster care prevention intervention; exploratory case studies of innovations in rural health care finance and delivery; a nationally representative survey on protections for human research subjects; and multi-site studies of the clinical outcomes and costs of integrated care for persons living with HIV/AIDS and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. He has focused in recent years on methods for developing and evaluating evidence-supported models for maternal and child health, child welfare, and cancer prevention.
